Scouts
The 21st Romsey Scout Group, based at the Peter Digby Scouting Centre on Joe Bigwood Close in Nursling, provides structured activities, adventure and training for about 70 local boys and girls in the Beaver colony ( ages 6 – 8), the Cub pack ( ages 8 – 10½ ) , the Scout troop ( ages 10½ – 14) and the Explorers ( ages 14 – 18). Weekly evening meetings take place during term time. The Network ( ages 18 – 25), which is organised at Romsey District level, caters for older members.
Our Group makes a significant contribution to community events such as the May Fayre, the Kite Festival and the Remembrance Sunday church service; our annual Xmas party for Senior Citizens living in Nursling or Rownhams is much appreciated and our Jumble sales are popular. Our building is also regularly used by other community groups, for example the local Brownies, a Youth Drop-In run by the Church, art and Tai Chi classes and the Retired Men’s Fellowship.
As an active Group we always need more adult helpers and leaders – if you can support us now and again, or might be interested in helping on a more regular basis please contact Derek Booth, our Group Scout Leader on 02380 739484 or our Chairman, Stephen McCann, on 02380735388. Derek is the man to contact if you have children wishing to join one of the sections.
If you are interested in using our building phone Les Mildon at 02380 732343
